Company Description
JRB is a Canadian design, build, and development firm founded in 1989 by Jonathan R. Bowman in Oakville, Ontario. Since inception, the JRB Group has been involved in more than 500 projects acting as developer, builder, project manager, and general contractor, with experience spanning single family homes, multi-residential developments, mixed-use hospitality, and large-scale, multi-phased programs. The company’s approach is anchored in its Design–Build–Manage ethos—innovative design and creative collaboration delivering exceptional results; sophisticated builds that improve communities and uphold an honest reputation; and experienced leadership that fosters trusted partnerships and long-term enterprise vision. Early in its history (1989–2003), JRB completed over 400 building refurbishment projects across multi-residential and office properties in the Greater Toronto Area while serving as both general contractor and project manager, and from 1991–2003 pursued principal investing and development in student housing, commercial infill, and residential single family. Internationally, Jon Bowman was seconded as Director of Development for the El Porteño/Faena project in Buenos Aires (1999–2000), leading initial equity raise, acquisition, entitlement, design-development, and tendering; the Faena Hotel was subsequently recognized in 2004 as Best New Hotel in the world by Condé Nast Traveler. Between 2000–2003, JRB acted as development consultant on over $350 million of private equity projects and from 2002–2015 served as a conduit to private equity and institutional capital on creatively structured financings exceeding $200 million. Milestones include leading a successful consortium in the City of Toronto’s RFP for the Guild Inn redevelopment (2003), delivering a portfolio of seven custom homes in South East Oakville (2003–2008) alongside major Toronto renovations, subdividing and selling a two-acre prestige residential site (2006–2008), and earning two Oakville Urban Design Awards plus a CEDIA North American award (2007). The firm also earned recognition from Tree Canada Fund (2008). In 2012–2013, Bowman was seconded as Director of Development for Friday Harbour, co-leading a Phase 1 launch encompassing design-development and sales and marketing of more than $250 million in resort-residential units, including a record $50 million weekend. Recent undertakings include the 331 Sheddon Avenue luxury condominium, a heritage-designated property acquisition and restorati
