Directions Workforce Solutions, known as Directions WA, is a not for profit community charity and one of the longest operating group training organisations in Western Australia, founded in 1988. For more than 35 years it has helped WA businesses recruit, retain and develop their workforce through apprenticeships and traineeships while delivering career development and advice to jobseekers across metropolitan and regional communities. Based at a head office in Midland, the organisation employs a host employer model in which Directions is the legal employer of apprentices and trainees and places them with client businesses, reducing risk and administration for employers and strengthening completion outcomes for participants. The team manages the full lifecycle of apprentice and trainee employment by organizing recruitment and selection, comprehensive inductions, coordination of all required off the job training, appropriate PPE, payroll entitlements, performance management, and workers compensation insurance. With a strong social impact mission, Directions also delivers targeted workforce development initiatives including Indigenous employment and training support and programs that promote workforce diversity and inclusion. Its job board, client and participant portals, and local advisory services make it easy for candidates to find opportunities and for employers to access talent quickly. Directions supports a wide range of occupations and industries, from construction and engineering trades such as carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing and gas, electrical, glazing, fabrication and welding, and refrigeration and air conditioning, to mechanical trades including heavy vehicle mechanics, as well as roles in mining and resources, mobile plant and civil construction, agriculture and horticulture, and business administration.
