Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium (NEMC) is a public workforce development partner serving jobseekers, employers, and young adults across Northeast Michigan as part of the American Job Center network. Focused on connecting talent to opportunity, the organization provides no-cost employment and training solutions that help individuals enter, re-enter, or advance in the labor market while helping businesses recruit, train, and retain a competitive workforce. Jobseekers can access one-on-one resume assistance, interview preparation, online job search guidance, skills assessments, career advising, and frequent workshops, supported by open public Resource Rooms in seven Service Centers equipped with computers, printers, phone and fax, and staffed by Career Navigators. NEMC coordinates multiple training pathwayson-the-job training, apprenticeships, and classroom trainingwith potential tuition assistance and supportive services for eligible participants through programs such as WIOA Adult and Dislocated Worker, Trade Adjustment Assistance (for qualifying trade-impacted workers), and other state and federal funding. For individuals receiving cash assistance, the PATH program provides required activities like job search and readiness, work experience, and community service. Youth ages 1624 benefit from WIOA in-school and out-of-school services, including GED/diploma attainment support, leadership development, career readiness workshops, mock interviews, employer Talent Tours, MiCareerQuest, and career expos. Veterans receive Priority of Service, with Veterans Career Advisors offering targeted job development, resume and interview support, barrier mitigation via partner referrals, and career exploration and planning. Employers receive end-to-end recruitment assistance, including posting vacancies to the statewide MiTalent.org job board, in-person and virtual job fairs, free interview and training space, labor market information with wage reports, resume review, and candidate referrals. NEMC also helps businesses access the Going PRO Talent Fund for short-term, employer-driven upskilling and supports wage reimbursement during training and hiring incentives for eligible populations. Through regional partnerships, including adult education and HiSET/GED testing offered in collaboration with local providers at Michigan Works! Service Centers and community sites, NEMC fuels pathways into in-demand careers such as nursing, trucking, law enforcement, and manufacturin
