Van der Laan & Co is a Netherlands based executive search boutique dedicated to building diverse and inclusive leadership teams that truly fit an organization’s culture, character, and context. Founded in 2011 with a clear mission to increase diversity in Dutch boardrooms, the firm pioneered balanced longlists that present equal representation of women and men from a wide range of backgrounds, an approach that contributed to winning the 2018 Executive Search Award from Talent naar de Top. Today the firm is led by partners Karen Kragt and Nicole Boeve, two seasoned professionals with complementary experience. Karen brings an academic background in nursing science and epidemiology and helped build DOCS International into an international life sciences staffing player before focusing on executive search from 2011 onward. Nicole is a business professional with broad consulting and ICT experience across retail and automotive and a strong focus on how diversity and inclusion strengthen leadership teams. After a period together with Partners at Work, Van der Laan & Co has operated independently again since 2025, continuing 80 percent of what has long set them apart while renewing 20 percent by sharpening their craft with greater use of technology and data. The firm partners with organizations that dare to challenge the status quo, and its stance on inclusion looks beyond surface traits to create conditions where every individual is heard, valued, and engaged. Their work spans board, C suite, and senior leadership appointments, supported by meticulous research, rigorous selection, and authentic engagement with candidates. As coordinators of SER Topvrouwen Circle Midden Nederland since 2025, they actively grow networks that expand access to exceptional female leadership. From their office in Langbroek, Van der Laan & Co delivers executive search grounded in craftsmanship, attention, and courage, helping clients make better leadership choices that drive long term performance and societal impact.
