Electrical Group Training, commonly known as EGT, is a not for profit, ACNC registered group training organisation based in Balcatta, Western Australia that specialises in employing and training electrical apprentices and placing them with host employers. Established in 1988 and now the largest employer of electrical apprentices in Western Australia, EGT maintains a consistent pipeline of skilled talent for the electrotechnology sector by recruiting motivated candidates year round, delivering comprehensive safety focused inductions, coordinating off the job training, and managing payroll and employment obligations. Through a flexible host model, apprentices can be engaged for short term project peaks or multi year placements, and hosts can nominate year levels from first to fourth year. Apprentices gain broad experience by rotating across multiple hosts and work types, including commercial construction and fit out, domestic and commercial maintenance, industrial new build and maintenance, modular installations, solar and battery systems, security installations, air conditioning, and switchboard manufacture. EGT supports employers with a low risk, hassle free solution by taking care of recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, WHS compliance, insurance, and payrolling, and by providing simple tools such as a charge out calculator, timesheet portals, and responsive field officer support across Western Australia. The organisation highlights strong outcomes for industry, including high retention and completion, award winning apprentices, the ongoing maintenance of platinum Worksafe status, and the pass through of significant state and federal incentives to help reduce hosting costs. With over 260 host employers and more than 500 apprentices active across the state, EGT serves contractors operating in residential, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy environments, while also promoting inclusive employment pathways such as women in non traditional roles, adult apprentices, and candidates from non English speaking backgrounds. Closely connected with sector bodies including ECA WA and CET, EGT provides a reliable, scalable workforce solution that helps businesses meet demand while developing the next generation of licensed electricians.
